COMPASS-FME: Coastal Observations, Mechanisms, and Predictions Across Systems and Scales (COMPASS) Field, Measurements, and Experiments (FME) Pilot Study
This multi-institutional effort is designed to understand the interactions of local living organisms with their physical surroundings and the biological, chemical, and geological processes of
microbes,
waters, soils, and plants within coastal systems. Our work will inform the development, testing, and application of computer models at select sites in the Chesapeake Bay and Lake Erie regions with a goal to enhance
predictive understanding
of freshwater and marine water coastal systems.
